A. Andaz Ahmad has worked in the field of information technology and management for more than 13 years. He has been at Ivy Tech for more than three years. Ahmad launched several ambitious projects including ivyVILOs, VIPOs, Technology ThinkTank Room, eTAT, PICMI, EqMARs, OSSTP and Panopto. Since 2002, Ahmad has designed and developed more than 35 online and hybrid courses and has taught more than 250 online course sections to more than 5,000 students. His professional experience includes more than seven years in the public and private higher education sector with leadership positions in teaching, distance learning, media services, network infrastructure, and instructional technology.

Hank Beaver has taught an online keyboarding course for 5 years at San Diego Mesa College. In addition, Hank trains and assists faculty in the use of computer applications promoting teaching and learning.  With the trend toward online instruction and resources, Hank assists faculty with developing and conducting online courses, as well as with creating supplementary websites enhancing on-campus courses. Hank has engaged many instructors in the development of online video resources using programs such as Camtasia Studio that make accessible multimedia easy to produce.

Chris Bell is the technology coordinator for a K-12 independent study charter school. In this capacity, he oversees the online learning programs, staff and parent technology professional development, and explores the educational application of emerging technologies for personalized learning. Additionally, he is a consultant for online learning and a technology professional development trainer for the Orange County Department of Education. Chris is a Google Certified Teacher and frequently presents at conferences around California on topics ranging from online learning to information literacy to social media in education and more. He is an enthusiastic self-directed learner who strives to inspire colleagues and students to become the same.

After teaching both F2F and online classes for ten years, Janice Prince Betian recently moved completely online for the University of Phoenix to accommodate her busy travel schedule. "Online teaching and learning is the future, and I intend to take part in shaping this new educational media to help instructors and students." Janice is working on a doctorate in education curriculum and instruction that will be completed next year, and is working on a book to help others access online teaching positions all over the world. When she is not teaching or speaking, she is traveling the PRCA Rodeo circuit as a fan and supporter.

Brian Bridges is the director of the California Learning Resource Network and president of the Computer Using Educators' Board of Directors. The California Learning Resource Network is a state- funded technology project that is responsible for reviewing supplemental electronic learning resources, digital textbooks, data assessment programs, and free web information links. A middle school English, drama, and computer teacher for 20 years, he also served 8 years as Program Manager for the California Technology  Assistance Project. Allison Carr is the Social Sciences Librarian/Library Faculty at CSU San Marcos and she is responsible for instruction, reference, and collection development. She has a Master's in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University. Her research interests include the use of technology in information literacy instruction and reference, and evidence-based librarianship. Her recent publications include an article on using screencasting in reference interactions, and using virtual reference to enhance distance learning.

Ian Chan is the Web development librarian at Cal State San Marcos. His work focuses on developing optimal user experiences for library web applications and leveraging open source tools to extend the library’s web services. Current projects involve the customization and deployment of applications such as Drupal, Library a la Carte, and the Openfire IM server.

January Colacurcio joined Washington Virtual Academy (WAVA) in February of 2008. Previously, she taught language arts and history for seven years at a Seattle area middle school. January has since been using her master's degree in technology integration to develop innovative ways to bring effective teaching practices into the virtual classroom. She has presented some of her ideas at the K12 National Teacher Training as well as at iNacol webinar sessions.

He previously worked with Google as an instructional designer, and, most recently, he served as an instructional designer for the EWD Reusable Learning Object Initiative. Jeremy has a passion for playing matchmaker between teachers and tools.

Dr. Marlene Cvetko is a faculty member and learning disabilities specialist at Mt. San Jacinto College. In 2002, Dr. Cvetko completed her doctoral dissertation in online learning and currently teaches adaptive computer technology. Dr. Cvetko has been teaching computer applications including voice activation software since 1989.  In 2000, she was awarded a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation grant to develop and teach computer classes, including adaptive technology though Multnomah County Library. She has conducted accessibility workshops for faculty through MSJC Tech Academy and desktop seminars on voice activation software through @ONE.

Kathryn Herbst-Damm is an assistant professor at Nevada State College where she loves exploring new ways to use online tools in her classes. Originally from San Diego, California, she received her B.A. in human development and a B.S. in psychology at the University of California, San Diego. She received her Ph.D. in experimental psychology at the University of California, San Diego. She has taught a range of courses including Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, Social Psychology, Cross-Cultural Psychology, and Health Psychology. She particularly enjoys teaching Introductory Psychology and Statistics.

Jesse Dixon is a professor in the Recreation and Tourism Management program at San Diego State University. Jesse has taught at SDSU for over 25 years, teaching courses in therapeutic recreation, leisure and tourism, and administration and operations management. In recent years, Jesse has participated in the Pict Project at SDSU (People, Information, Communication, and Technology) and the Universal Teaching and Learning Scholar program with the Disability and Diversity Project managed by the Interwork Institute. Jesse has also helped with the development of online courses at SDSU. He has taught large-enrollment General Education courses using clickers and has delivered fully online courses. Jesse has served on community boards, conducted research, and published in academic journals and textbooks. Jesse has an interest in quality of life issues, accessibility, technology development, and entrepreneurial strategies for professionals.

Carrie Spagnola-Doyle is Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Pearson Learning Solutions (PLS). She heads a team of project managers and instructional designers whose primary focus is online and hybrid curriculum development, initiatives, and creative solutions.  Prior to working at PLS, Carrie worked at University of Phoenix HQ for eight years in curriculum development; the last three years she was their Director of Education for the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. She is the author of Power Up! A Practical Student's Guide to Online Learning, and Journal to Fulfillment. Carrie holds an M.B.A. and a B. A. in communication.

Dr. Kirsti A. Dyer M.D., M.S., F.T., C.W.S. is a physician, health educator, professor, online instructor, lecturer, author, and longtime online student. She received her medical and master's degrees from the University of California, Davis. Since having her daughters, her focus has shifted from clinical practice to health education and wellness promotion. She has an extensive list of publications, and has presented at medical Internet and online teaching conferences. Dr. Dyer teaches the online college course she developed in nutrition for Columbia College and the online graduate course she developed in grief, loss and bereavement for Madonna University.

Robert currently works as an access specialist at MiraCosta College where he provides group in-services and one-on-one assistance to faculty/staff in their design and redesign of electronic information and distance education offerings to assure they meet accessibility requirements. Recently, he and his colleague Michelle Farnam have launched a learning community on universal design for learning at Miracosta to promote ongoing support and discussion around how best to implement principles of universal design. Education and professional history: B.A., English Literature and Communicative Disorders, San Diego State University, 2002.

In 1989 Donna completed a B.A. in computer music composition from Clark University. She received an M.F.A. in electronic music recording from the Mills College Center for Contemporary Music in 1993. In 1996 she completed a M.F.A. in integrated electronics arts from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute. Since then Donna has been teaching multimedia in the Bay Area. Her Digital Media Skills course has won awards for online learning from both CVC and the U.S. Distance Learning Association. A former multimedia artist for Apple, Donna "retired" to raise her daughter, but continues to teach part-time.

Michelle is a counselor in the Disabled Students Programs and Services at MiraCosta College. She also tests students for possible learning disabilities. In addition, Michelle teaches a College Success Skills course which is part of the summer bridge program for African American high school students transitioning to college. Currently, Michelle and colleague Robert Erichsen have developed a learning community for faculty on the topic of universal design for learning.  This learning community will assist and support faculty in their efforts to enhance their course.

Dr. Marsha Fralick recently retired from Cuyamaca College after 30 years as a college success professor, counselor and Chair of the Personal Development department and now works as an educational consultant. As Chair she was responsible for program management, assessment, curriculum development, and faculty training.  She is the author of College and Career Success, the online CollegeScope Student Success Program, and numerous published journal articles on student success. She has a doctorate in higher education with an emphasis in career counseling from the University of Southern California.

Betsy Frogge is a graduate of CSUSB with a degree in business administration and information technology. She earned her teaching credential from Chapman University and has been facilitating independent study and homeschool students for 14 years. She has worked with kindergarten through 12th grade, but her current emphasis is in middle school where she teaches Pre-Algebra and Algebra in a virtual classroom to 7th and 8th graders.

Mark Fullmer received his M.A. in English Literature at Boston College. His research interests include digital literacy, feminist film theory, American popular studies, and narratology. He teaches writing at Fullerton College and Irvine Valley College, and has given multiple presentations about Facebook and its effect on culture and learning. He is currently writing an interactive serial novel, released on Facebook, about the great American subculture of videogaming.

Since 1997, Markus Geissler, Ph.D. has taught computer information science and business at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, California. A former CVC Faculty Mentor, Dr. Geissler’s primary areas of research include information and communication technology (ICT) adoption in various cultural environments, along with computer networking and Internet technologies. Dr. Geissler holds a Ph.D. in organization & management (e-Business Specialization) from Capella University (2006) along with M.B.A. (1994) and B.S. (1992) degrees from California State University, Sacramento.

Dave Giberson is a retreaded old chemist who has been playing with technology toys for the last 25 years of his academic career. He’s been a chemistry faculty member, a systems librarian, an IT director, and an educational technology coordinator. He’s currently serving as an instructional design coordinator in the Online Learning Pathways unit of the San Diego Community College District where he provides support to online and web-enhanced faculty and students. His special interests include facilitating the pedagogically sound incorporation of rich media (video, audio, multimedia) into online and web-enhanced instruction and the technical support process.

James is Dean of Educational Technology, Learning Resources, and Distance Learning at College of the Canyons. He supervises the PACE program, distance learning, educational travel, the library, and the tutoring, learning, and computing lab. He is spearheading the college's Open Educational Resources initiative. He serves as Project Director for the statewide Distance Education Captioning and Transcription Grant, designed to support California community colleges in their efforts to make distance learning universally accessible. He also delivers training for faculty who wish to teach online. His previous academic home was the history department where he taught both on-campus and online.

Pamela Goalwin is a newcomer to the field of online science, but is convinced that it can be a fun and effective delivery method for middle school students. She has been dedicated to independent study for 20 years, and is excited about the new opportunities that open up with online instruction. She is currently working on a master’s degree with an emphasis in technology at CSUSM.

For over 14 years, Jeanne Guerin has been a staff member of community college campus support centers, mostly at Sierra College. Jeanne has taught online for 11 years. Jeanne is a long-time member of the Sierra College Distance Learning and Instructional Technology Committee and has presented several instructional technology workshops to faculty. She was a co-facilitator of the 2009 Sierra Online Summit. In 2008/2009 she was reassigned to research and develop an online writing center for Sierra College. In addition to her Sierra College duties, Jeanne is a Lecturer in the English Dept. at CSU, Sacramento.

Mari Guillermo has a doctorate of education in leadership from the University of San Diego. She currently serves as the project coordinator for the Participatory Capacity Building project, providing workshops and technical assistance for minority institutions to develop and submit competitive grant proposals. Mari is also responsible for the coordination of the Community Rehabilitation Program Continuing Education, specifically as it focuses on direct service delivery staff. She is an adjunct faculty member at Grossmont Community College and teaches a Disability and Society class in both traditional and distance learning formats. Other responsibilities have included coordinating support for individuals moving from a sheltered workshop to community employment as well as for students transitioning from school to adult life.

She teaches a hybrid public speaking class as well as online interpersonal and organizational communication courses in addition to traditional courses. Prior to teaching at Folsom Lake, she taught at Fresno City College where she received an Outstanding Faculty Member Award in 2005. She received her M.A. and B.A. degrees in speech communication from CSU Fresno.

Andrea is Dean of Online & Distributed Learning at the San Diego Community College District, which enrolls over 10,000 online students each semester (http://www.sdccdonline.net) at San Diego City College, Mesa College, Miramar College, and San Diego Continuing Education. She has extensive experience at the college level in creating accessible online learning environments that meet best practices in technology-based teaching, faculty development, student learning outcomes, and quality standards. She has been an instructor of computer business technology at L.A. City College and San Diego Mesa College and an online instructor in instructional technology at National University, in economics as well as critical thinking/problem solving at DeVry Online. Andrea was educated at UCLA in Higher Education Leadership (doctorate) and Business-Economic Education (masters).

Dr. Douglas Hersh, Dean of Educational Programs at Santa Barbara City College (SBCC), earned a B.A. from Yale University in 1981 and master’s and doctoral degrees in educational leadership in 2005 and 2009 respectively. His 2009 doctoral dissertation was titled Human Factors: Increasing Online Student Satisfaction, Class Completion and Academic Achievement through Human Presence Design. As dean serving distance education at SBCC in 2007, Doug engaged the shared governance process to undertake an ambitious goal: transitioning from Blackboard to Moodle by summer 2009. With Blackboard now phased out at SBCC, and with over 85% of the fully-online, hybrid and technology-enhanced campus-based classes in Moodle, the College is now a leading practitioner of online human presence as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Donald is married with two children and lives in Northern California. Donald has taught at two community colleges and is currently teaching at San Diego City College for the @One program. Donald is the information systems & security manager, consultant, and auditor for Maze & Associates. He is a guest lecturer and speaker on security topics and he has served on various advisory committees and as a subject matter expert in information technology and security. Donald received his bachelors, with honors, in security management with a concentration in information security from American Military University. His certifications include CISSP, CISA, CAP, PSP, MCT, MCTS, MCSE Security, MCSA Security, MCDST, Security+ and CTT+.

Originally a farm girl and Earth/Environmental Science teacher, Sallie is now the Instructional Technology Resource Specialist (Head of Technology) for the Blue Ridge Virtual Governor's School.  BRVGS is a public magnet high school that serves students in 7 small rural counties in VA.  Students take hybrid courses where they spend half their time learning in a "traditional" classroom environment and the other half collaborating virtually with students from other schools and university professors on research projects.  During the 2007-2008 school year BRVGS switched to Google Apps for Ed and has been revolutionized.  Projects are deeper and more meaningful, because communication and collaboration are effortless.

Sallie's role entails providing support and professional development to the teachers and students of BRVGS while maintaining the data and information systems.  She is constantly on the search for new tools and ideas to integrate into the BRVGS curriculum.

In her free time Sallie enjoys being a competitive equestrian, snowboarding, working on the farm and hanging out with her husband, Great Dane, and Bulldog.

Bob Hiles has been the online program coordinator for the Newport-Mesa Unified School District for the past 5 years. In this capacity he has developed online curriculum, provided professional development, designed courses, and maintained the district's learning management system. Concurrently, he teaches online and face-to-face classes at Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach, California. He also conducts training sessions for the Orange County Department of Education. Bob has given online learning presentations regionally at the Computer Using Educators (CUE) conference in Palm Springs and nationally at the North American Council on Online Learning (NACOL) Virtual School Symposium in Phoenix.

Dr. Laurie Huffman has taught for 24 years at Los Medanos College and four years for Florida State College.  For the past 10 years, Laurie has designed and taught online courses for Los Medanos College, University of Maryland University College, and Florida State College.  As a professor of Spanish, Laurie has used a live-learning component in each of her online language courses. Using a student-centered learning methodology, she has moved her students from an asynchronous to a majority synchronous online environment.  Currently, Laurie is working with Wiley Publishers to offer Spanish learners the option of learning Spanish in an immersion online program as a supplement to their college online courses. Laurie has taught in Mexico, Japan and Costa Rica. She owns and runs a rain forest project in Costa Rica where she teaches online classes from Central America.

She also serves the district as the online learning coordinator and is pursuing certification in online course facilitating and developing. Christine has been a social studies teacher for 6 years, including three years of online teaching with Virtual High School, and Global Consortium.

Ida M. Jones, a professor in the Craig School of Business at CSU Fresno, is a Faculty Fellow for the Center for the Scholarly Advancement of Learning and Teaching and for the Craig School. In 2008, she was awarded the Craig School Manco-Abbott Award for Classroom Excellence and the Academy of Educational Leadership’s Outstanding Educator Award for Innovative and Creative Teaching.  In 2006, Ida received the Provost’s Technology in Education Award. Ida, who earned her J.D. from New York University, teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate business law courses and holds a certificate in Online Learning from UCLA.

Denise has over 25 years experience in Information Technology. 13 of those years have been spent in higher education. She is an expert at Web application and database development. She has designed, developed, and administered software for the academic research, learning, and administration communities. Denise also had many years of experience as an adjunct faculty member at Clark College/Washington State University in Vancouver Washington where she taught computer science and Web technology courses. She holds a graduate certificate in online teaching and a B.S. in geophysics. She presently is the Web application specialist at Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, California.

Kara Kuvakas is an adjunct instructor for many Monterey Bay area colleges in various scientific disciplines (geology, geography, and environmental science). Her classes incorporate interactive media, videos, and popular culture into the standard curriculum, and she strives to make even obscure scientific facts accessible to today's students. She received her B.S. in earth science from UC Santa Cruz (1998) and her master's in environmental science and management from UC Santa Barbara (2001). Her hybrid and online classes are fun to create, easy to grade, and useful for students—the "perfect storm" for education.

Mike Lawrence has been impacting education as a teacher, speaker, technology coordinator, and director for more than fifteen years. He is a respected presenter at national conferences and events and was honored to be named an Apple Distinguished Educator in 2003. He also assisted in the development and launch of both the Discovery Educator Network (DEN) and co-founded the Google Certified Teacher program. Mike is an author and editor and currently serves as Executive Director of Computer-Using Educators (www.CUE.org), supporting its California-based membership by advancing student achievement through technology on a national level. He was also recently named the director of the California Student Media Festival (www.mediafestival.org).

Professor DeAnna Lehmann teaches Accounting at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, CA, and she is also a Certified Public Accountant. She has been teaching online and hybrid using BlackBoard exclusively and is happy to pass along her knowledge using BlackBoard.  She enjoys teaching in both the on campus classroom and online, and enjoys the technology that enhances the teaching experience.

She received her Ph.D. at Penn State University where she worked intensively on instructional design for a large class, becoming the winner of the 2003 upper level course at the ANGEL Course Contest. She has been teaching a special education foundation online course for many years.

Dr. Ying-Hsiu Liu is an instructional designer for the distance education office at Mount Saint Mary College. She received her Ph.D. in instructional systems at Pennsylvania State University. She has been engaged in eLearning for about 10 years. Her research interests are online program administration, blended learning, the pedagogical use of Web2.0 tools in educational settings, design and evaluation, and case-based instruction. A faculty member at Moorpark College ADN program since its inception in 1981, Linda received a B.S.N. from the University of Illinois,  an M.S.N. from California State University Los Angeles, and completed her Post Masters Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of Southern California. She works at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles as an RN on the ICU float pool.

She obtained a master’s degree in Library and Information Science and a master’s degree in Latin American Studies from UCLA. John Makevich is the Instructional Design Coordinator at College of the Canyons. Mr. Makevich is responsible for distance learning training for faculty and continued research into emerging technologies relevant to education and, in particular, online teaching and learning. John Makevich holds an M.S. degree in Atmospheric Sciences from The University of Arizona and a B.S. degree in Earth Sciences from UCSD. In addition to his instructional design role, he also teaches earth science, geology, meteorology, and oceanography at College of the Canyons.

Her research focuses on enhancing student learning through assessment and innovative online instructional strategies.

Nancy McCabe earned her B.A. and M.Ed. from the University of San Diego and holds several teaching credentials. Her twenty years of experience in the education field includes roles as classroom teacher, educational facilitator, adjunct professor, curriculum specialist and, presently, virtual classroom teacher. Two years ago she wrote a grant that implemented the virtual classroom into the independent study program at Julian Charter School. Since then she teaches synchronous online writing courses to middle school students in a virtual classroom environment. In addition, Nancy instructs asynchronous online writing classes at a local university.

During that period he has worked at the district and college levels to develop faculty interest in the use of technology and in 2002 was co-chair for the TechExpo at Los Angeles Mission College sponsored by CVC and LACCD. He has been a presenter at a number of conferences.

Yvonne Nalani Meulemans is the Human Services and Psychology Librarian and Information Literacy Program Coordinator at California State University at San Marcos.  She works with students, faculty, and staff in the Human Development, Kinesiology, Psychology programs as well as the School of Nursing. Most recently, she has become coordinator of the Information Literacy Program, which provides research help and information literacy  instruction to the CSUSM community. She is currently researching  contemporary and salient methods of providing reference and research help to undergraduates, learning theories that are relevant to reference and research help,  and attitudes of nursing students regarding evidence-based practice.

Mehdi Mirfattah has been teaching mathematics at Long Beach City College (LBCC) since 1998. Mehdi offered the first online math class at LBCC twelve years ago and is continuing to expand the Distance Learning program for the Math department. He has conducted many workshops and trainings in the area of distance learning courses in mathematics. In 2007 Mehdi offered the first hybrid math class at LBCC. He has received a master of engineering degree from Cal Poly Pomona and completed graduate courses for a master of mathematics degree at Cal State Los Angeles. Currently, he is offering virtual live sessions for his distance learning courses.

Rechelle Mojica has a bachelor's degree in speech pathology and a masters degree in rehabilitation counseling (with an emphasis in deafness) both from San Diego State University. She is a tenured faculty member in the Disability Support Programs and Services office and the access technology specialist at San Diego Miramar College.

Matthew Mooney teaches history at Santa Barbara City College. He has incorporated electronic learning management systems into his classes since 2002, and all of his courses at SBCC (both online and face-to-face) currently employ Moodle. Matthew began his own journey through higher education in 1990 at Orange Coast College, and he completed his Ph.D. sixteen years later at UC Irvine. He has been at SBCC since 2006.

Blaine Morrow is Director of 3C Media Solutions and CCC Confer, two statewide technology projects serving California community colleges.  He has been a technology director for four districts and has served on the faculty of Michigan State University, Palomar College and Wayne State University. Blaine has written four books and more than thirty journal articles related to informational technology.

Catherine Nameth reluctantly took an educational technology class in graduate school and, to her surprise, loved it. Since then, she has taught in continuing and higher education and has specialized in instructional design and technology integration. In 2009, she was recognized as a Distinguished Instructor at UCLA Extension where she is an adjunct instructor. She is currently the education & outreach coordinator at the CEIN at UCLA where she manages distance learning programs and designs interactive training modules.

She is also co- owner of Agusta-Mae Consulting offering diversity and cultural competence training to organizations, corporations, and educators. She has also worked as a campus diversity administrator.

Sarah Olson holds a B.S. in biology and chemistry from the University of Colorado, and works in health care. After running a front office, she decided to go back for her master's in health care administration from the University of Phoenix. After relocating across the country to support her husband's choice of medical school, she fell into the educational field and has never looked back. As an assistant department chair for Kaplan University's School of Health Sciences, she works daily with leadership teams, instructors, and many other facets of the school.

His primary role is to work with faculty to develop e-learning and to integrate technology into the classroom. Prior to WAVA, Deidre taught at a large brick & mortar high school in Los Angeles, CA. She has since worked hard to translate these activities to the synchronous (via Elluminate) classroom for her WAVA students. Allison Powell is the Vice President of the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) which provides expertise and leadership in K12 Online Learning. Before joining iNACOL, Allison taught in both face-to-face and online K-8 environments. She helped build the Clark County School District's Virtual High School and an online professional development program for the Nevada School District.  She has served as a board member for several organizations and universities. She is currently finishing her doctorate from Pepperdine University in educational technology.

Dr. Prado is an associate professor of management and the program director of the B.S. in business program at Green Mountain College. He developed and implemented the College's M.B.A. in Sustainable Business Program, which is the first online M.B.A. in sustainable business program in the country. He was involved in all aspects of the program, including curriculum design and instructional materials development. He also designed and launched an online executive program in sustainable business leadership. In addition, Dr. Prado has worked as a consultant and as a subject matter expert related to the development of academic programs and instructional materials.

Kim Randall spent 10 years in the classroom, most recently as a technology teacher for grades 1-8 in Northern California. Her students won several awards in the California Student Media Festival. She has worked with Discovery Education for the past three years, and currently with their Professional Development team, training educators across the country on Discovery Education products. Kim has presented at several state and local conferences, including Colorado TIE, ASTE, and CUE. She is thrilled to be a STAR Discovery Educator and Apple Distinguished Educator. In her spare time Kim enjoys traveling the globe, scuba diving, and enjoying her passion for underwater photography.

Kim earned her B.A. degree in Psychology and Early Childhood Education from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA and an M.A. in Educational Technology Leadership from George Washington University in Washington, DC. Rebel Rickansrud-Young is an adjunct instructor at San Joaquin Delta College in the Language Arts department. She has a B.A. in English and French from The University of the Pacific, an M.A. in comparative literature from Purdue University, and she has worked on an M.F.A. in creative writing at UC Davis. She took her first online teaching course with @One and has not looked back. She also works full-time as a program specialist for Head Start and is engaged as the Learning Coach for her 16 year old son at CAVA San Joaquin, part of the K12 online academies.

Susan is Academic Technology Director at Claremont Graduate University contracted by SunGard Higher Education.  She has over 25 years teaching experience at various levels - teaching at Middle School, High School, Community College and University.  She is also an instructional analyst with 20 plus years of experience.  She started in 1997 developing online courses and has since focused  on quality pedagogy and the stimulating use of technology in instructional design.  She has recently worked with the Claremont College Consortium implementing Sakai to the Consortium Colleges, going into full production in 2007.  She has presented at numerous conference nationally and internationally on course structure, adult learning and quality use of technology in courses. Ben Seaberry is the distance education coordinator and executive dean of information technology & services at Diablo Valley College where he has served since 2000. Between 2000 and 2009 student enrollment in online courses increased from 2.5% to over 25% of the college headcount. Ben completed a doctorate degree in 2008 and published his dissertation: A Case Study of Student and Faculty Satisfaction with Online Courses at a Community College. Ben has a master's degree in instructional technology and a bachelor's degree in mathematics and has taught high school and college courses in mathematics, science and instructional technology.

Candace Thille has been the Director of the Open Learning Initiative (OLI) at Carnegie Mellon since its inception in 2002.  She is Co-Director of OLnet, an international OER research network jointly run by Carnegie Mellon and the Open University.  Her research focus is in applying learning science results and methods to the design and evaluation of open learning environments. She serves as a Redesign Scholar for the NCAT and as a Fellow of International Society for Design and Development in Education.  Candace is a member of the U.S.ED working group drafting the National Education Technology Plan for the Obama administration.

Timothy Wahl teaches ESL to adults at Evans Community Adult School in Los Angeles where he has also served as a co-adviser in the distance learning program. Additionally, he has taught How to Teach Online at UCLA Ext., and he has conducted online faculty workshops in online pedagogy, covering needs assessment to facilitation and course evaluation, in institutions of higher learning, including Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Charlie Wallace is a lecturer at California State University Monterey Bay, teaching graduate students interactive media production for the master of science in instructional science and technology degree. He is also full-time staff at CSU Monterey Bay, working with faculty and staff through the Center for Academic Technologies. Charlie received his B.A. in communications from SUNY Oswego and his M.S. in management and information technology from CSU Monterey Bay. His fields of interest include multimedia production, instructional design and video editing. Charlie is also a professional musician playing pedal steel guitar, Dobro and standard guitar. He has been known to use creative and different approaches in his presentations in order to engage the audiences.
